Equilibrium - Rekreatur
Rekreatur is the kind of album that you never expect to listen from such a young band. Kind of album that since its first second blows your mind away thinkin “Wow this sounds cool!”. Rekreatur has all the elements in its powder ready to blast infact it combines perfectly classical and epic elements with death and speed metal drilled with a crazy assortment of moder heavy sounds. After few days from its release it touched the 20 position in the German chart such as the 58 rank in both Switzerland and Austria charts.
This is not a simple listening album especially if you are not used to growling, screaming and soaring voices – this is for sure. Anyway that the kind of music that keeps growling from the beginnin to the end… dispite from that what’s pretty good is the music and refrain that it gives to you in the long intrumental parts that are taking the lead in the middle-between and after chorus.
Epic is the word that this album suggests since the first listening. It has magical moments, incipits and prog part pretty much inspired by the lead guitarist and keyboard player René Berthaiume.
This is a hour 9 tracks long album and you will be surprised discovering that very last track called Kurzes Epos is a 13 minutes long instrumental song. No growlings, no screaming just awesome and cool music. In my opinion this song offers you the state-of-art about what Equilibrium music has to offer you today and at the end you wants more. Again epic!
Let me say something about the special Equlibrium Rekreatur Limited 2CD Digibook edition: it comes with a hard cover and an internal 20 pages booklet. Both epic Cover and booklet artworks are designed by Alev. The experienced illustrator used intence blue colours and paints to describe this special edition. You can see the results of the job he relized mixed with pictures taken by Ulla and lyrics texts over.

1) In Helligwn Hallen – Epic intro ending with a fresh series of guitar riffs backed by a series of drums rythm solutions that throw your breath away. This song has the power, melodies and magic with a cool prog split about 3′-ending with epic chorus voices that will blast on live sessions. Song ends with nice guitar melodies, drums full-blasts and growls.
2) Der Ewige Sieg – Children of Bodom inspired song mixing mighty growls over magnificent guitar riffs turned into duet melody rides with keyboard. The chorus is pretty cool about 2′ and the melodies on the middle remembers Rhapsody scripts.
3) Verbrannte Erde – You want to feel like into a medival battleground with factions marching compact on their way? This is your song. Its a slow one and a deep soaring voice carries you over there from above. You can’t turn off this song untill the epic final drum call.
4) Die Affeninsel – Exotic keyboard sounds in this crazy incipit never heard before blowin your mind away and returning as continuous refrain during the chorus and main theme. At 1′.14″ cool electric guitar riff repeted at 2″ with keyboard – should be listen once in life. This a fast song half the way over Rekreature album. You will mention this song as one of the best.
5) Der Wassermann – The song starts with a charming and relaxed sounds before drum fills what was empty announcing a new nice mid-tempo song.
6) Aus Ferner Zelit – One of the fastest and longest magic song in Rekreatur with spectacular melody and worm hi-lyric woman voice about 3′ and 38″ that will make this song appreciated from metal heads during live sessions and concerts. Drums and percussions mid-song stops about 6′ followed by classical headbanging guitar riffs with a little surprise about 6′.40″. About minute 8 song quick-reprise till the end. Awesome!
7) Fahrtwind – 2nd Children Of Bodom truly inspired song beginning. The songs evolves into something more inspired and personal and gains some modern-alternative sound. Song ends before you realize its sense. But who cares?
8 ) Wenn Erdreich Bricht – Anthemic death metal song with crazy growlings all along and nice cembals adds about 2′. Seems it ends 3 times about 4′ and 5′ and 6′ but it does not and restarts with quick reprising untill the end.
9) Kurzes Epos – Instrumental – 13 minutes long. This is the perfect track that any musicians will appreciate because it is full of epic, classical, modern, prog, death, speed and melodic elements perfectly combined. You will love it. That’s sure.
